Spring has officially sprung, but in most places around the country the weather hasn’t gotten the memo. Our skin has a hard time adjusting to temperatures and humidity that change from day to day which can leave us covering up dry, scaly skin instead of showing off our new favorite sundress. Celebrities always seem to have a year-round perfect glow, so we’ve rounded up some best-kept skin care secrets from the professionals responsible for flawless complexions.

  • Naomi Campbell, 44, swears by microdermabrasion – a procedure that polishes your skin with tiny crystals. “We start with a few glycolic peels and then use microdermabrasion to exfoliate,” said the model’s facialist Christine Chin to Harper’s Bazaar.
  • L.A. dermatologist Jessica Wu, M.D. treats celebrities with a facial peel to help unclog pores from heavy makeup used during filming or long shoots. Facial peels that contain papain enzymes or lactic acid smooth the skin’s surface and boost radiance, too.
  • If you can’t make it to the dermatologist before your next big outing, Susan Evans, M.D. told Glamour Magazine how to replicate her popular papian enzyme peel at home. “Take chunks of papaya, mix it with egg whites and spread it over your face. It’ll form a nice mask,” she says. “I’ve made it myself, and I’ve recommended it to clients I couldn’t get to.” Leave it on for 10 minutes, rinse and be sure to moisturize.
  • The simplest way to rescue your skin? Sleep! Personal trainer to the stars, Ramona Braganza, says “Halle [Berry] tries to get eight hours of sleep each night. Your body needs this time to rest and recover, so you don’t look older than you are.”
  • Shakira, 38, uses a slightly unconventional method to keep her skin safe from the sun’s rays. Reportedly, the Latina powerhouse prefers to use a gentle baby sunblock over normal SPF for gentler protection.
  • Karyn Grossman, dermatologist to celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow, still relies on the tried and true Botox. “I use it in the whole face, and do it lightly, so you retain expressions but don’t have lines at rest,” she reported to W Magazine, but “If the lines are still deeper than what patients want, I’ll inject a bit of the fine-line filler Belotero Balance.”
  • Still struggling with that crocodile skin leftover from winter? Beauty and skincare industry expert Donna Tarantino swears by a consistent moisturizing routine. To rid yourself of your scaly skin, you MUST apply moisturizer “in the morning before getting dressed and in the evening before you get your beauty rest.”

Glowing, beautiful skin is possible, and doesn’t always have to come from in-office treatments. We’re big proponents of Donna’s tip that hydrated skin is happy skin, and a steady morning to night routine will keep your skin moisturized, helping to fend off visible signs of aging.
